So how can we help you and your dog?
Training
We will either come to your home or meet you at an outdoor venue and provide 60 or 90 minute sessions – depending on the amount of help that is needed:
· Bespoke one-to-one training sessions (we can address a single life-skill in depth where necessary or a combination) covering any of the following basic ‘life-skills’: coming when called, walk on-lead without pulling, don’t jump up on people, polite manners around food, how to play appropriately, how to be examined comfortably, meeting strangers politely, general good manners, settle and relax by yourself, sit-down-stand, not mouthing/nipping with teeth, and any other training need you may have. We can also teach tricks and problem-solving or help you teach your dog individual skills to enable him to lead a fulfilled life with you - such as travel comfortably in the car or on public transport.
· Fun agility – we can supply small jumps, tunnels and weave poles and give your dog a fun-filled physical and mental work out in your own garden (space dependent)
· Train with a friend? – we are happy for you to book a session with up to 2 friends
· Pre-purchase advice – we can offer advice on how to choose the most suitable dog for your lifestyle and how to settle in a new dog
· Preparing your dog for your new baby – we can help set your dog up to cope with your new arrival and the changes to your lifestyle this will involve
· Children and dogs – we can provide shorter sessions for children teaching them how to behave around dogs and how to help with training the family dog
· Dog-phobic? – we can offer help with learning how to cope with dogs in the nearby environment
· Scent-work – we can teach you and your dog how to locate hidden articles, how to follow tracks and how to ‘rescue’ people
· Making walkies more fun – we can show you how to enrich your walk around the local park
Behavioural Help
· Where more in-depth support is required to understand why a dog is behaving in a specific way - such as barking inappropriately, fearful or anxious behaviour, chasing, showing reactivity to people or other dogs, showing signs of distress when being left alone for example - and change the undesired behaviour to a much more healthy and appropriate activity instead by redressing your dog's underlying emotional state and restoring balance, giving him a different and much more positive perspective on life. Whatever the problem we will visit your dog within the environment where the problem is happening for an in-depth consultation which will include a full written report including a bespoke plan for you to follow in order to change your dog’s behaviour for the better.
· Because of the need to take a full history of the dog’s behaviour we would expect the consultation to last approximately 90-120 minutes minimum
· Behavioural consultations are always followed-up with telephone/email support and a further visit if necessary or if desired
Other services available
· Workshops – we are able to create bespoke workshops for dog training clubs or interested groups on specific training exercises such as recall, scent work, appropriate play, or a topic of your choice
· Presenting – we can provide visually entertaining power-point presentations on any of the training exercises we undertake as well as dog communication and body language, the physiology of stress in dogs and how to minimise or avoid it, or any dog-related topic of your choice
· Dog First Aid Training – we can offer a full or half day’s dog first aid presentation which includes theoretical and practical elements; we can also provide a shorter lecture if required
· Educational visits/training demonstrations – we can demonstrate dog training techniques to groups
· ‘Cluedog’ Murder Mysteries – we can provide 1-2 day workshops in which teams of people and dogs undertake a series of life-skill based games in order to gain clues which help them solve a murder mystery! Fun for all involved….
